Detroit puts Fever in septic shock

The Detroit Shock defeated the Indiana Fever in game 1 of the first-round playoff series, 81 - 72. The Fever lacked interior defense and couldn't keep up with Detroit's Deanna Nolan despite spending a fruitless 40 minutes chasing her all over the court. It reminded me of the roadrunner cartoons in that no matter how many Acme bombs Wile E. Coyote planted he just couldn't catch that roadrunner and eat it for dinner. Nolan ended the game with 22 points and went 4-6 from three.Taj McWilliams-Franklin added in 17 points and 7 boards. For Indiana, Tamika Catchings and Most Improved Player of the Year, Ebony Hoffman, scored 19 points apiece. Indiana will head to Detroit to take on the Shock in game 2 on Sunday at 3pm EST on ESPN 2.
